The urban landscape is a reference
point for the abstract shapes and images I create in
paintings, monotypes, drawings, and one-of-a-kind
artist's books. I transform what I see into an
imaginary world populated by shapes, colors,
nonexistent dwellings and containers surrounded by
fictitious plants, animals, and strange forms of
life. I use these elements as characters in a visual
drama within the picture plane, choreographed to
take place during the time the work is viewed, much
like music or film.
I have consistently explored the
nature of non-objective art and abstraction, using
color, form, geometric and organic shapes, and
symbolic references to nature and the environment in
which I live.
I believe art should stimulate the
viewer's imagination and provide an insight into the
creative nature of life. It should enhance the life
of the viewer in providing a visual experience which
is unique and stimulating to their own creativity.
I hope that my art has the power
to communicate and that it enriches the lives of
those who view it, even though the language used is
purely visual, abstract, and personal.
